Can Identity Theft Make You Fat?
Written by Brad Kopec
I know that sounds like a ridiculous statement, but let me explain.
Identity theft is the fastest growing crime. Experts say there are as many as 10 million victims each year and it affects 1 out of 4 households. Victims of identity theft typically lose anywhere from $1,200 to $31,000 and even more.
What most people don't understand is just how devastating this crime can be to our lives besides just losing money.
To put it simple...identity theft is a pain in the butt. The process of restoring your identity is not easy and takes a lot of time. I know. My grandma was a victim a few years ago. She lost over $2100, and my family and I spent hours and hours talking to her creditors, her bank, writing letters, shredding documents, and countless other things, just to restore her identity and get her life back on track. The whole process consumed my family for a period of several months and I remember my mom in particular having no time to but to take care of this problem.
Most people are well aware of the financial loss associated with identity theft, and the possible nosedive your credit score will take. What most people don't realize is the time it takes to restore your identity. The average victim spends over 650 hours trying to restore their identity. In more severe cases, the victim may spend over 5000 hours trying to get their life back together.
Imagine all you could do with that time! I, like most people want to be healthy and in good shape. I spend a few hours a week at the gym trying to make my body return to age 18. Now, if something came along and stole my time, I would have to give something up in return. Unfortunately my workouts would be the first to go.
If I'm going to spend over 650 hours restoring my identity, you better believe I'm going to sacrifice my workouts to get my life back together. So depending on what your priorities are, you will likely have to give something up in return for restoring your identity.
If you like to maintain an active lifestyle, chances are identity theft will creep into your workout time at some point or another. So I guess the answer to our original question is yes. Under the right circumstances identity theft can make you fat. Learn all you can to prevent it from happening to you.
Don't let your life get turned upside-down by a low-life crook. Learn Brad Kopec's tips to prevent identity theft, and what the identity theft prevention services don't want you to know. Check out http://www.IDTheft-Prevent-and-Restore.com for more information on no-nonsense identity theft prevention.
